BiharBrains Announces “Saheed Anil Kumar Singh, IPS (Retd.) Yojna for children" Under “Bihar Brains Talent Search Scheme"

Patna March 21, 2007: BiharBrains Scholastic Center, BBSC, Patna (www.bbscindia.com & www.biharbrains.org ) has announced Special Talent Search program for the poor in the name of brave warrior soul of India,” Late Sri Anil Kumar Singh, IPS (Retd.)” who died in an encounter with six armed robbers in the Mumbai bound train in Patna last year on June 4,2006.

He was on his way to Mumbai, when his train was invaded by 6 armed robbers. On seeing helpless passengers being robbed, he confronted the robbers alone, armed with nothing, and in the process got shot. Even with life slipping away, he held on to one of the robber till help arrived. He saved fellow passengers but could not save his own life.

Sri Anil Kumar Singh was retired (DIG) from IPS (Bihar Cadre) in 2002 after a highly decorated career. He was one of the most respected police officers of Bihar and was practising in Patna High Court after his retirement, providing free legal help to the needy.

The scholarship will be awarded in the remembrance of the brave soul to the meritorious poor children, studying in class 6th to 10th in Gov/Village schools of Bihar who lack the financial means to study further.
As per plan, three Students will be selected from each of the class on the basis of merit, demonstrated in a talent competition, to be held every year by Bihar Brains. Each of the 15 students will be handed over a scholarship of Rs 250 every month for a full year.
And special Prize for the best scorers in matriculation of Bihar School Examination Board will be given. The prize will carry Certificate for his excellence and Rs 5000/- for his appreciation.
For the selection of students, a state level Poor talent search search examination will be announced very shortly in the Month of April,2007.
This scheme will commence from June 4, 2007 on the on the day of sudden tragic demise of the brave soul. The scheme will be sponsored by the family of Late Shri Anil Kumar Singh, IPS (Retd.). Mr. Siddhartha Kumar, son of the late Anil Kumar Singh, a member of BiharBrains in Bahrain will sponsor a sum of Rs 50,000/- annually to BiharBrains.
